Meet The Family Behind The Raw Pack

Why We Started The Raw Pack

The Raw Pack began with Astrid, a Dobermann who didn't have the easiest start in life.

When our founder brought her home, there was one goal: to give her the best life possible. That started with what went in her bowl.

Finding the right food wasn't as simple as expected. There was so much conflicting advice, confusing ingredient lists and marketing claims that it was difficult to know who to trust. Eventually, we stripped everything back to basics and focused on simple, natural ingredients. That journey eventually became The Raw Pack.

We've Done the Filtering for You

When you shop with The Raw Pack, you're not scrolling through hundreds of products wondering which one to choose. We've done the hard work for you.

Rather than stocking every brand we can find, we've carefully built a range of products we'd genuinely feed our own dogs. We take the time to try products ourselves, build relationships with suppliers and only stock brands we're confident recommending.

That means you can spend less time comparing products and more time enjoying life with your dog, knowing every brand on our shelves is one you can happily buy again.

Meet Astrid

Astrid is the reason we're here.

She's a young Dobermann with plenty of energy and an even bigger appetite. If there's food around, you can guarantee she'll be first in line, and is always hopeful there might be a second dinner.

Astrid is a brilliant guard dog and takes her job seriously - especially if there's a squirrel anywhere near the garden.

Like most Dobermanns, she's very much part of the family and she's still the first to give every new product her approval before it makes it onto our shelves. If Astrid enjoys it, it's a good sign we're on the right track.

Meet Hiccup

Hiccup is Astrid's brother and lives with our founder's sister, making him just as much a part of The Raw Pack family. Although they live separately, they still spend plenty of time together and are always happy to see each other.

Hiccup is the definition of a velcro dog and is happiest when he's close to his people. He loves nothing more than a fuss from anyone willing to give him one, although he's always happy to swap cuddles for a play session with his dog friends. Once the day's over, he's more than ready for an early night. Late evenings definitely aren't his thing.

What We've Noticed Since Feeding Raw

For Astrid and Hiccup, switching to raw has made a world of difference.

When they first arrived at the rescue kennels, both dogs were severely malnourished and struggling with ongoing digestive issues. Hiccup was so unwell that he had to stay on a strict veterinary feeding plan, but during that period, and even after bringing them home, they continued to have very sensitive stomachs. Even feeding the recommended gastrointestinal foods never fully settled either dog's digestion.

It wasn't until we introduced raw food that we started to notice a change. Their digestion improved, they began passing healthy, firm stools, and after a couple of weeks, both dogs had gained noticeable weight, and maintain a healthy body condition.

For Hiccup, the next improvement came a little later. His coat had always been dry, with persistent dandruff and itchy skin that never cleared. Feeding raw made it much easier to avoid chicken, which we discovered doesn't agree with him. Since so many processed dog foods contain chicken or chicken derivatives (even when it's not the main ingredient on the front of the pack) it was often difficult to avoid. With a wider choice of clearly labelled single-protein raw meals, managing his diet became much simpler.

These are the changes we've seen in our own dogs, and everyone's experience will be different. But most of all, we like knowing exactly what's in their bowls. Feeding raw doesn't have to be complicated, and that's something we've carried through into everything we do at The Raw Pack.
