Yes. Raw diets can be suitable for both puppies and senior dogs when fed appropriately for their age, size, and activity level.
Puppies need more food to support growth and development, typically around 5–10% of their body weight per day depending on their age. As they grow, this amount gradually decreases until they reach adulthood.
Senior dogs can continue eating a raw diet too. Most older dogs eat similar amounts to other adult dogs, usually around 2–3% of their body weight per day. However, less active dogs may need slightly less, while active seniors may need more.
These figures are a useful rule of thumb, but every dog is different. Our raw feeding calculator can help you find a good starting point.
Raw feeding is all about getting back to basics. No heavily processed food, no fillers, no preservatives. Raw diets are made with real ingredients that are closer to what dogs are naturally designed to eat, as well as giving you a clearer understanding of exactly what's going into your dog's bowl
Many dog owners notice benefits such as improved digestion, healthier coats, better weight management, and more consistent energy levels.
It's best to start slow. A sudden change of diet can upset your dog's stomach. Mix in a little bit of raw with their usual food and gradually increase over a week or so. No rush.
When handled properly, raw dog food is perfectly safe to feed your dog.
Keep it frozen until you're ready to use it, then defrost it in the fridge and store it chilled. Follow the storage instructions on the packaging, and wash your hands, bowls, and preparation surfaces after feeding - just as you would when handling raw meat in your own kitchen.
Most dogs see improvements on raw diets, but it depends on the individual. Raw food is also grain free and additive free. Always monitor reactions and consult your vet if unsure.
Raw dog food should be kept frozen until you're ready to use it. When needed, move it from the freezer to the fridge and allow it to defrost fully before serving.
Once thawed, keep the food refrigerated and use it within the timeframe recommended by the manufacturer. Always store raw food in a sealed container and handle it with the same care you would raw meat intended for human consumption.
Avoid refreezing food that has fully thawed and warmed up. If the food is still cool to the touch, it can usually be safely refrozen.
